The 2024 Lenny Railton Scholarship Awards for this year are Isabelle Davison, Morgan Kurbis, and Wyatt Culleton.

Isabelle, a student from LSSD is going to MITT to become a hairdresser and will hopefully own a salon one day. She said that she’s been practicing on dad already and is hoping that her education will provide ongoing learning and that she’ll be able to give people confidence. Wyatt, our second student, is in the automotive program who has started his apprenticeship at Selkirk Chrysler and will be attending Red River College once his hours have been met for level one. The final recipient is Morgan, who will be attending Red River College to pursue a career as a Heavy Duty Mechanic. He hopes to bring the skills he learned at Red River to help out on his family’s farm. During the interview, he said that “farming is his life… he was born on a tractor.”

Congratulations to Isabelle, Wyatt and Morgan on this well-deserved recognition of their achievements.

Leonard George Arthur Railton passed away April 26, 2023 at the age of 51 after a hard fought battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis/Motor Neuron Disease or Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Len grew up in East Selkirk, MB where he attended Happy Thought School & Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School. Len graduated in the class of 1989. After graduation, Len found work in the Healthcare Field. He worked almost 30 years as a Health Care Aide until his illness progressed. He worked many years at MiddleChurch Personal Care Home and finished his career at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg.

Healthcare was a perfect fit for Len due to his kind & caring nature. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with family, friends, gardening, yard work & maintaining his koi pond.

We wish to make this scholarship an annual award for students attending the "COMP", Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School. This year we will be awarding 3 different students who show commitment to their community and helping others.

We reach out to our community, friends, family, LSRCSS and Happy Thought School Alumni. We specifically send out a challenge to the graduating class of 1989!!

Join us in honoring Len Railton. Together we can build a brighter future.
